Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year, is practically here. Christmas is such a special time, a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus with many treasured traditions. Advent wreaths, Nativity scenes, Christmas carols, Christmas decorations and, of course, Christmas trees make the cold month of December seem much cozier.

As 2025 winds down and a new year beckons, it’s a good time to reflect on your own successes and missteps both in the outdoors and in life.

The annual Christmas cantata at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett is titled “A Child is Born … All is Well.”

An ecumenical choir of more than 25 performers will present this Christmas musical twice before Christmas and twice following Christmas at St. John’s, 101 W. Main St., Gillett. While there is substantial road construction on Highway 22 through Gillett, there is always access to the church property.

Hillside Assembly of God is holding a Christmas musical at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the church, 5890 State Highway 22, Gillett.

Saturday, Dec. 13

Bay Area 3, New Richmond 0

The Bay Area Storm shut out the New Richmond Tigers 3-0 on Dec. 13.

All three goals were scored in the second period.

Shawano’s boys wrestling team earned 225 points and placed 14th in the Battle of the Bay at Bay Port High School on Dec. 13.

“I was proud of the boys today,” coach Mike Homan said. “They wrestled hard in all of their matches and continue to improve.”

Marcus Brezgel placed sixth, and Nikkolas Waukau and Dane Hodkiewicz each finished eighth. Kody Popelka and Drew Chelberg each took ninth place, and Kian Morstad was 10th.

Seven Shawano Community High School girl wrestlers competed at Brillion on Dec. 12, facing tough completion among the more than 300 others from around the state.

Zennah Bosetski , Gwyn Hermann, Jenna Moede, Madelyn Moesch, Ella Korth, Amiyah O’Kimosh and Vivian Waldburger wrestled, with Hermann placing sixth.
