Pulaski boys, girls lacrosse teams lose to Neenah

Pulaski’s boys lacrosse team fell to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the Bay Valley Conference after a 17-1 loss to Neenah.

The Red Raiders girls lost 4-3 to Neenah. They are now 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Bay Valley Conference.

Hawks win 6-3 on softball diamond

Three players had multiple hits as Shawano defeated Little Chute 6-3 on the softball diamond April 6.

Ayanna O’Kimosh hit 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Jaelyn Hietpas hit 2-for-3 with a double, and Ava Watchel also hit 2-for-3.

Kadence Meyers connected on a triple, as the Hawks scattered eight hits in their six innings at the plate.

Opening night at the Speedway moved to April 18

Fans are expected to pack the stands at the Shawano Speedway on April 18 for the opening night at the legendary half-mile track. The original opening night of April 11 was cancelled due to wet track conditions.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with races getting underway at 6 p.m.

Pulaski track shines at Midwest Indoor Championship

Pulaski’s girls track and field team score 74 points and placed second at the Midwest Indoor Championship, hosted by UW-River Falls on April 4.

The boys team tallied 62 points and placed third. There were 16 teams competing in the meet.

Emerson Fabry won the 1,600-meter run in 5:22.26. Maggie Gerth finished second.

Gerth won the 3,200-meter run in 11:15.10.

Olivia Sprangers also won the long jump at 16-1.50.

Uniform muskie season will take effect this year

Will anglers head to the northern half of Wisconsin – including Shawano and Oconto counties – to fish for muskies almost a month before the previous season opener?

That remains to be seen, but anglers will be able to target muskies in the Northern Zone on May 2 instead of waiting until the last Saturday of May. The season will end Dec. 31.

Input sought at DNR spring hearings

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Conservation Congress will be holding their spring hearings from 6-9 p.m. April 13.
