Menominee Tribal Legislature election results announced

The general election for the Menominee Tribal Legislature was held Jan. 14–15, resulting in the election of three candidates to three-year terms.

Elected were Marcus Grignon with 319 votes, Daynell Grignon with 310 and Kaycee Wayka with 260, according to the Tribal Election Commission.

Schultz honored upon retirement from library

The Shawano County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution Jan. 28 thanking Allison Schultz for her two decades of service to the Bonduel Public Library.

Schultz served nearly 21 years with the library, which is now a branch of the Shawano County Library system.

Local girl, 12, has role in ‘Shrek’

Cast members selected through a competitive audition process featuring top talent in the region, including performers from Wausau, Stevens Point, D.C. Everest, Merrill, Marathon and more will take to the stage at Wausau West High School later this month.

County leader job description awaits final touches

After nearly three months of adding, deleting, changing and clarifying the job description for the Shawano County administrative coordinator, supervisors are in the home stretch.

Julie Hasser, interim administrative coordinator and human resources director, said she was nearly prepared to send them a final version, but the document still needs work.

Flying high with aviation scholarship

Northern Flight Alliance presented Menominee Nation High School senior Sydney Mitchell with a $1,000 scholarship. She plans to attend the University of North Dakota to pursue a degree in aviation. She is currently working toward completing her private pilot license before heading off to college. New treasurer takes oath

Emily Kazik takes her oath of office as the new Shawano County treasurer Jan. 28. She will serve until January 2029 to complete the unexpired term of Deb Wallace, who retired in December. Kazik’s new role was approved by county supervisors on a 24-1 vote with two members absent. Supervisor Matt Pleshek voted against the motion.
