EAA Chapter 1710 hosted its Shawano EAA Young Eagles Rally, an event that introduced 68 enthusiastic young participants to the world of aviation.

The Aug. 24 event was a makeup from the abbreviated fly-in and car show at the airport Aug. 16.

Scores of youths gathered at the Oconto County Fairgrounds from Aug. 21-24 at Zippel Park to exhibit their animals.

Exhibitors like Kathryn Raddatz, of Oconto Falls, showcased their livestock. Raddatz brought a Jersey heifer from her aunt and uncle’s farm named Glitterbug.

“Glitterbug placed first in her class,” Raddatz said, “and in showmanship I placed fourth.”

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and Oconto County Public Health have identified five more cases of measles in Oconto County.

The additional cases are linked to the nine cases confirmed in the county Aug. 2, which bring the total number of cases to 14. DHS is working with Oconto County and surrounding local public health departments to identify and directly notify people with known exposures.

• Michelle E. Moutry, 36, Brussels, was charged Aug. 18 with felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor count of operating a motor vehicle while her license was revoked. Judge Katherine Sloma set a $250 cash bond and adjourned her initial appearance until Oct. 14.

• Angela D. Hawkins, 38, Lena, pleaded no contest Aug. 21 to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. A related felony count was dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge levied fines and court costs and sentenced her to five days in jail time served.
