• Nathaniel G. Long, 32, Shawano, pleaded guilty Feb. 2 to maintaining a drug trafficking place. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and court costs totaling $1,788.

• Ashauntee M. Smith, 23, Keshena, pleaded no contest Feb. 2 to three misdemeanor charges of possession of THC. Two counts were amended from felonies in a plea agreement. Kussel levied fines and court costs totaling $1,640.50.

• Baldwin C. Framnes, 24, Gillett, was found guilty at a Nov. 4 jury trial of second-degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim and felony bail jumping. Judge Michael Judge sentenced him Feb. 2 to six years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision with conditions.

Deputies responded to 23 incidents, including a noise disturbance on East Westgor Avenue in Wittenberg; a snowmobile accident near Railroad and Flint avenues in Mattoon; one 911 call; two reckless driving incidents; two traffic hazards; one welfare check; three crashes, one involving deer.

The number of inmates at the Shawano County Jail continues to flirt with the maximum capacity threshold, which will eventually lead to the county renting space at jails in surrounding counties.

The College of Menominee Nation has established a consortium agreement with Montana’s Fort Peck Community College, enabling students to work toward a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems across both institutions. This agreement enables students to take needed courses that are not presently available at CMN.
