Bail set at $250K for Oconto Falls doctor

A 65-year-old Oconto Falls doctor was charged Aug. 29 with with first-degree child sexual assault, child sexual exploitation and possession of child pornography.

Judge Jay Conley set a $250,000 cash bond for Isaias R. Cupino. His initial appearance was adjourned until Sept. 11.

ATV/UTV users have new rules of the road to follow

Shawano County supervisors approved a new ordinance governing the operation of ATVs and UTVs on county roads but not before being admonished by one of their former members.

“It just amazes me that Shawano County can’t play by the rules,” former Supervisor Peter Schmidt told the board Aug. 27.

He said minutes from committee meetings consistently noted safety issues with the vehicles on county roads.

Prey’s retirement recognized by county board

Former Shawano County dispatcher Deanna Prey was recognized for her service to the county at the Aug. 27 meeting of the county board.

A resolution, approved Aug. 6 by the Shawano Public Safety Committee, thanked Prey for her 26 years of employment with the county.

“She was a huge asset to Shawano County,” Sheriff George Lenzner told supervisors. “A lot of the newer dispatchers really looked up to her.”

Number of measles cases climbing in Oconto County

The number of measles cases in Oconto County has reached 23 as of Aug. 29, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Oconto County Public Health. There have been two hospitalizations reported. All of the reported cases are confirmed cases.

• Lee E. Lindner, 38, Shawano, pleaded no contest May 28 to two counts of first-degree reckless homicide by delivering drugs, four counts of manufacturing with intent to deliver amphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession with intent to distribute amphetamine or methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver narcotics, receiving stolen property, and manufacture with intent to deliver fentanyl.

• Jenny L. Tennant, 46, Gillett, pleaded no contest Aug. 19 to felony bail jumping, escape from criminal arrest, misappropriating ID information to avoid penalty, and misdemeanor counts of possession of an illegally obtained prescription and prostitution. Judge Michael Judge sentenced her Aug. 26 to three years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision with conditions.
