Woman tries to rob Gresham bank

Authorities were still looking Tuesday for a woman who tried to hold up the Gresham State Bank on Monday and fled the scene without getting any money. The incident sparked a brief lockdown at the nearby Gresham School after witnesses said the woman fled on foot in that direction. Stockbridge-Munsee Police responded to a robbery alarm at the bank, 801 S. Main St., about 2:40 p.m.
Birnamwood woman faces 30 counts of child porn possession
A Birnamwood woman was charged Tuesday with 30 counts of possessing child pornography. Falisha Nicole Foxx, 48, also known as Edwin J. Muhs, could face a maximum 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine on each count if convicted. A warrant has been issued for her arrest. Foxx was previously convicted in Marathon County of one count of possessing child porn. Four other counts were dismissed under a plea agreement.
Juvenile arrested in Angelica on possible burlary charges
Authorities responding to a report of a prowler Tuesday morning arrested a 16-year-old Pulaski male on possible burglary charges. Shawano County sheriff’s deputies were called just before 8 a.m.
Shawano enrollment increases
The Shawano School District is continuing to see an upward trend in student enrollment, administrators reported Monday. Superintendent Gary Cumberland told the School Board that the district’s enrollment is 2,611, a 2.2 percent hike from 2,544 students reported for the 2012-13 school year.

Gresham School Homecoming is this week. Dress-up days are Cross Gender Day on Monday, Twin Day on Tuesday, Blast from the Past (dress up old-school) on Wednesday, School Spirit Day on Thursday and Color Wars on Friday. On Friday, games will be held outside. There will also be a cookout for the entire school. Tuesday was parents night for volleyball, and Thursday is soccer’s parents night. Junior high volleyball traveled to Bowler on Oct. 1.

City, county targeting 911 abusers
Anyone who calls 911 had better be reporting an emergency or a perceived emergency, or else they should be prepared to pay. The Shawano Common Council on Wednesday adopted an ordinance providing stiff fines for misuse of 911, and the Shawano County Public Safety Committee unanimously approved a recommendation on Wednesday for a similar ordinance. Shawano School District administrators knew they were budgeting cautiously, but now they have third-party confirmation. Circuit Court sides with Lighthouse Pub
The Lighthouse Pub in Wescott gets to keep its concrete patio after a circuit court ruling Wednesday ended a four-year legal battle with the Shawano County Board of Adjustment. Owners Jeff and Tammy Stachowiak have been fighting an order to remove the patio since 2009 when their original request for an after-the-fact variance was denied. “We knew we were right all along,” Jeff Stachowiak said after the ruling.
