Sam Falck took first place to lead the third-place Bonduel High School boys cross-country team at the Rosholt cross-country invitational Thursday in Rosholt. Falck finished in 17 minutes, 7 seconds, beating Rosholt’s Jim Liebe to the finish line by 24 seconds. Teammate Isaac Palmer crossed in 17:43 to take fourth and Travis Wollenberg crossed at 17:47 for sixth place. The Bonduel boys finished third with a team score of 68.

Teagan Monfils and Nick Matz led their respective Shawano Community High School cross-country teams at the 35th annual Red Raider Invitational on Thursday in Pulaski. Monfils finished 21st overall, with a time of 16:01. Kristy Kurtz finished in 16:47 for 42nd overall. The Hawks girls finished in 11th place as a team with a score of 268.

Haley Wilber survived that fight, and she did it with the help of blood donations from nearly three dozen people. Shawano County officials are exploring the possibility of getting gaming compact funds from a future Menominee casino in Kenosha, if Gov. Scott Walker approves. Jean Marie Waupoose, 78, of Neopit, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, in Waukegan, Ill. Born on Aug. 12, 1935, in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Theresa (Tucker) Heath. The city of Shawano is looking into whether a downtown water main break last week was an isolated incident or a harbinger of a bigger and potentially expensive problem. The break in the 200 block of South Main Street on Sept. 25 was actually the third such incident involving the water main installed as part of the major Main Street reconstruction project in 2002 and 2003.
