Musical tribute coming to Gathering

A fundraiser for Leadership Shawano County has grabbed a lot of attention from the community, so much so that additional tickets are being printed up to accommodate more people. Let Me Be Frank Productions is presenting its tribute to the icons of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s Oct. 26 at The Gathering, 2600 E. Richmond St., in Shawano.

Caroline K. Hubatch
Caroline K. Hubatch, 86, of Shawano, died on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013. Born on Nov. 7, 1926, in Dodge County, she is the daughter of the late Jacob and Caroline (Auck) Pieffle. She worked for Chrysler Outboard in Hartford for many years. Caroline was united in marriage to Dale Hanson, who preceded her in death. She later married Curtis Bender, who also preceded her in death. On May 16, 1981, Caroline married Albert W.
Barbara Nernberger
Our beautiful mother, Barbara Ellen Nernberger (Kunschke), 72, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. Barb, the daughter of Gladys and Eldor Kunschke, was born in Shawano on Oct. 15, 1941. She was a 1959 graduate of Shawano High School. Barb married Eugene Knoke on Jan. 21, 1961. They made their home in Shawano and relocated to Green Bay. Together they had three children, Gina, Anthony and Rodney.
Benjamin L. Ninham
Benjamin Lyle Ninham, 79, of Keshena, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at a local nursing home. Born on Nov. 27, 1933, in Morgan Siding, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Amy (Leicher) Ninham. In his younger years, Benjamin was an excellent athlete and excelled in all sports. He was inducted into the Menominee Hall of Fame and almost became a professional baseball player.
Charles H. Malueg Jr.
Charles Harold Malueg Jr., 65, formerly of Suring, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013. Charles was born April 19, 1948, to the late Charles Sr. and Rose (Otradovec) Malueg. He farmed with his father in the town of How and took great pride in his occupation.
Harold L. Koenig
Harold L. “Hal” Koenig, 87, of Cecil, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 16, 2013, at ManorCare of Shawano. Funeral services for Harold Koenig will be held on Monday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Ted Andrada will officiate. Interment, with full military honors, will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m.

Wildcats 2-0 in nonconference play The Gresham High School volleyball team beat Valley Christian and Oneida in nonconference action Tuesday in Gresham. Shawano on road to open volleyball tourney
The Shawano Community High School volleyball team has the ninth seed and will travel to No. 8 Seymour next Tuesday to begin the WIAA Division 2 regionals. The winner will move on to face No. 1 Oconto Falls in the regional semifinal Thursday. Also in the Division 2 regional, No. 13 Clintonville will travel to face No. 4 Wrightstown.
