Katheryn V. Schroeder

Katheryn V. “Kitty” Schroeder, 94, of Shawano, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Shawano. Born on Aug. 14, 1919, in Kennett Square, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stuart and Edna (Ruoss) Battan. She graduated from Kennett Square Consolidated School in 1938 and went on to receive a degree as a dental hygienist from the University of Pennsylvania in 1939. She served her internship at Northwest Hospital.
Norman R. Zastrow Jr.
Norman R. Zastrow Jr., 68, of Bonduel, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in Shawano. Norman was born on June 13, 1945, to the late Norman and Margaret (Richter) Zastrow in Shawano. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1963.
Margaret Hall Teller
Margaret Hall Teller died at 91 years old on Feb. 2, 2014, in Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh John Teller. Both were formerly from South Branch. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2014 in South Branch.
Gerald Lemke
Gerald “Jerry” Lemke, 68, of Rib Mountain, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. He was born Dec. 14, 1945, in New London to the late Louis and Lucille (Prellwitz) Lemke and graduated in 1964 from Shawano High School. Jerry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 11, 1984, Jerry married Shirley Cook at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Robert J. Brede
Robert J. Brede, 70, formerly of Cecil, passed away on Dec. 26, 2013, in Shawano. Zastrow Funeral Home in Cecil assisted the family.
James C. Wayka
James C. Wayka, 68, of Keshena, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the Shawano Medical Center. Funeral service arrangements for James are pending and will be announced Thursday. Victoria Marie Kiar
Victoria Marie Kiar, 78, of Shawano, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, in Appleton. Born on Aug. 29, 1935, in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Augustine (Duquain) Jacobs. Victoria was raised in the Keshena area, where she attended St. Joseph Grade School. After grade school, she graduated from Haskell High School in Lawrence, Kan. She later married Kenneth Kiar in Milwaukee.
Keith F. Lawrenz
Keith F. Lawrenz, 53, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at a local nursing home. Born on March 4, 1960, in Port Washington, he was the son of Viola (Perkins) Lawrenz and the late Jacob “Jake” Lawrenz. Keith graduated from Bonduel High School in 1978. On March 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Patty McKenna. Keith was a hard worker who spent most of his career building boats.
Senate sends farm bill to Obama

After years of setbacks, the Senate on Tuesday sent the nearly $100 billion-a-year measure to President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it.
