BayCare Clinic recognizes Oconto Falls employee
BayCare Clinic presented its quarterly Best of BayCare award to Lori Harris, an ophthalmic assistant at the Oconto Falls location of BayCare Green Bay Eye Clinic. The Best of BayCare award is a quarterly recognition given to BayCare Clinic physicians or employees who provide excellent customer service to a patient, family member or fellow staff member. Harris was recognized for her work with a patient over several weeks.

4 plead not guilty to meth charges
Four Oconto Falls residents pleaded not guilty last week to charges related to cooking methamphetamine in the back bedroom of an Oconto Falls trailer house. Wendy S. Gillett School receives STEM grant
The Gillett School District is one of 15 school districts to share $250,000 in state funding for innovative science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education projects in the coming year. Gillett was awarded $9,602 to enhance the use of its computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine in its tech ed department at Gillett Secondary School.

County receives $10K for wetlands conservation
The Oconto County Land Conservation Department received a $10,000 donation for its work to conserve wetlands and improve fish habitat in Little Suamico and Pensaukee. Madison firm to design law enforcement center
The Oconto County Board on Thursday approved nearly $2 million for services related to the construction of a law enforcement center to be built adjacent to the courthouse in Oconto. Potter Lawson was selected to design the facility at a cost of $1,275,700, just under the $1.3 million budgeted by the county.

Gillett outsources food service
The Gillett School District will take a new approach to providing meals for students and staff for the 2014-15 school year. The School Board on Thursday voted to contract with Taher Inc., a Minnesota-based food service company. Program aims to conserve sensitive land

New logo proposed for Oconto County
Changing the look of the Oconto County logo from a nature scene to an image of the courthouse drew mixed reviews Thursday from County Board members. A logo designed by Colortech Signs and Graphics of Green Bay was introduced as a possible replacement of a tourism-themed logo the county adopted about 20 years ago.
