City code enforcement back on front burner

The summer tourist season officially opens this weekend, but the typical summer complaints of city code violations are already well under way. Work imminent on Main Street in Clintonville
Detour signs will start going up June 1 in Clintonville, but they will remain covered until June 16 as crews make improvements along the routes in preparation for the state Highway 22 reconstruction project. A hero's welcome
Reuben Schaetzel’s exemplary World War II service has been documented in several articles and a book. Recently the Shawano resident was honored on the 70th anniversary of helping to liberate the city of Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic. “I told my daughters if I would die tomorrow, I would be a happy man,” Schaetzel said about the trip he took with his daughters. Schaetzel was drafted into the Army in February 1943.

Bonduel vet saw Japan after bombs were dropped
After 72 years, the memories are fading a bit as Don Mueller recalls his days in the Army during World War II. “It didn’t bother me to go,” Mueller said. “Everybody else was going. I really wanted to go.” He was drafted, entering the service on March 13, 1943, and went through training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, Camp Gordon in Georgia, The Citadel in South Carolina, Camp Grant in Illinois and Fort Ord in California.

New principal will remember BHS Class of 2015
The Bonduel High School Class of 2015 will always hold a special place in the heart of first-year Principal Jane Wonderling. Wonderling encouraged the 79 students at Friday’s commencement ceremoney to continue to push themselves, to stretch their limits and to continue to develop as they depart the confines of BHS. “This is my first year and I am proud of the Class of 2015,” Wonderling said.

Elizabeth Ann Jahnke, 70, of Johnson Creek, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Facility in Johnson Creek. Elizabeth was born in Lowes, Kentucky, on May 5, 1945, the daughter of Gilbert Moss and Annie Florence (Lamm) Toy. She graduated from Lowes High School and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Murray State University.

Nancy Buss, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in Madison, surrounded by her three children. Nancy Nickles was born July 29, 1935, in Madison, daughter of the late Robert J. and Dorcas (Branson) Nickles. She was a graduate of Madison West High School, attended Lawrence University in Appleton and graduated in 1957 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in social work. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
