Another possible County Board challenger emerges
Another Shawano County Board seat could be up for grabs in April after another possible challenger registered Friday. Roger Miller, of Bowler, has turned in a campaign registration statement for the District 21 supervisor seat held by Bert Huntington, of Gresham. Huntington has registered to seek another two-year term. The deadline for filing registration and the 20 signatures needed to get on the ballot is Jan.

Sheriff’s department fills detective vacancy
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department this week announced the promotion of one of its deputies to the detectives division. Nick Prey will fill the vacancy left by Keith Sorlie, who recently took a job with the Shawano Police Department. “I am very pleased to have Nick join our Detective Division,” Sheriff Adam Bieber said.
Clintonville won’t fill mayor position until election
The Clintonville Common Council voted this week night not to replace Mayor Judith Magee until the spring election. Magee agreed earlier this year to resign, effective Jan. 1. Magee said she was resigning for health reasons, but the decision also settled a complaint filed against her by local resident Tricia Rose alleging misconduct in office.

Eleanor Sobiesczyk, 92, of the town of Lessor, passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 11, 2015, at Forest Glen Assisted Living, Seymour. She was born on May 22, 1923, daughter of the late Stanley and Theresa (Styczynski) Jankowski. On March 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Alvin Sobiesczyk. He preceded her in death on Dec.

Letter: Teen reading program continues through Jan. 4
To the editor: Everyone knows about summer reading programs, but here in Shawano we don’t let the fun stop there! We have a Not-So-Summer Reading Program for teens that runs through Jan. 4. Teens can register and participate in the library or online at shawanolibrary.org under the Programs/Teens! There will be five weekly prizes of $10 gift cards for local restaurants and five overall prizes of $50 gift cards from various retailers.
