Despite wet conditions, corn plantings at 78%
Heavy rains reduced Wisconsin to just 2.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending May 26, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The warmer weather was beneficial to crop development and hay growth. When able, the week’s field activities included, tillage, planting crops and cutting hay.
Topsoil moisture condition rated zero percent very short, 4% short, 61% adequate and 35% surplus.
