Dora Wauters, 87, Green Bay, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Hartland to William and Leona (Boetcher) Quandt. On July 31, 1948, Dora married Charles J. “Chuck” Wauters in Angelica. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2000. Dora was a longtime member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of the D.A.V.

Robert James Forrest, 64, of Pulaski, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, in Green Bay. Born on Feb. 10, 1949, in Green Bay, he was the son of the late Arthur and Beulah (Griepentrog) Forrest. Robert grew up in the Green Bay area and was a graduate of Bay Port High School. On Sept. 23, 1967, he was united in marriage to Gloria V. Lucht in Green Bay. Robert worked for Diebold for 45 years before retiring.

Joseph J. “Joe John” Martin, 64, of Keshena, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at his home. Born on June 23, 1949, in Keshena, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Reiter) Martin. After graduating from high school, Joe John enlisted with the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Joe John worked as a welder with the military and as a patrolman with the Menominee Tribal Police.

Bonduel High School wrestler Jacob Wudtke had a tough match his freshman year against Shiocton’s Zech Riehl. “I wrestled him like nine times in my life and I’d never beaten him,” Wudtke said. “My freshman year, I finally pulled it out and beat him.

Fifth-grader Erin Timler emerged as the winner of the Bonduel School District spelling bee Wednesday. Forty students participated in the bee, which lasted eight rounds. Timler correctly spelled the word “shiatsu” to win the bee. Meghan Wondra successfully spelled “pontiff” to win runner-up honors in a tie-breaking round. A ban on baiting and feeding white-tailed deer went into effect Thursday in Shawano and Waupaca counties. The state Department of Natural Resources reported the action was spurred by the discovery of a deer with Chronic Wasting Disease on a privately owned deer farm in Marathon County in November.
