A firefighter with nearly 20 years of experience has been elected as fire chief for the city of Gillett. Greg Rudie was elected in January by members of the Gillett Fire Department. “I’m looking forward to serving the city in that capacity,” he said. “He’s been fire chief before, and I think he’ll do a good job,” Mayor Irene Drake said. Rudie replaces Tom Wolfgram, who expressed interest in retiring as chief.

Sugar worked as a CNA. Her caring personality would shine through to all of those around her, especially on her children and beloved grandchildren. Eleanor Olson, 93, formerly of the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville. Eleanor was born on Sept. 15, 1920, in Mattoon, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Magdalene (Waideliche) Jahnke. Eleanor was baptized on Sept. 26, 1920, and confirmed on May 13, 1934, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mattoon.
