Schmandt, 71, of Shawano, formerly of the town of Dupont, Waupaca County, passed away Tuesday morning, June 17, 2014, from injuries received in an auto accident in the town of Richmond, Shawano County. Nicholas Kern Sr., 79, of Shawano Lake, formerly of Appleton, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at The Cottages on Golden Pond in Shawano. Members of St. John Lutheran Church Hermansfort will hold a retirement celebration Sunday for their pastor, the Rev. Roland Golz, of Gresham, for whom retirement is nothing new — it’s his third. Golz was already retired when he was first introduced to the congregation 21 years ago. “I told them I could help them out,” said Golz, 82.
