David A. Conant, 67, of the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass. Lewellen Erb
Lewellen “Lew” Erb, 78, of Navarino, passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born Jan. 21, 1937, son of the late Harry and Edna (Anderson) Erb. On Sept. 9, 1961, Lew was united in marriage to Barbara Allen at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino. Lew and Barb dairy farmed in the town of Navarino for many years. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, fishing, bowling and playing softball.

Loretta M. Salzman
Loretta M. Salzman, 85, of Tigerton, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Homme Home of Wittenberg. Loretta Mabel Salzman was born on Aug. 21, 1929, in the town of Morris, Shawano County, to Louis and Elizabeth (Jolin) Salzman. She attended school and was raised in the Tigerton area. Loretta was an excellent speller, and she was a gifted artist who liked to draw people. She had an extraordinary memory for relative’s birthdates.
Donald J. Gajewski
Donald J. “Don” Gajewski, 87, of Shawano, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 15, 2015. Don is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Firkins) Gajewski, of Shawano; his son, Robert “Bob” (Nancy) Gajewski, of Rhinelander; two grandsons, Rob (Jaime) Gajewski, of Shawano, and Ryan Gajewski, of Madison; as well as a great-grandson, Charlie. Clintonville officials say Angelus sale violated TIF agreement

Shawano woman joins Big Brothers Big Sisters board
Traci Hutchcraft and Gerald Henley were recently named to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin board of directors for 2015. “Their individual experiences will make our board of directors well-rounded and stronger as we continue to meet the challenges of serving the youth of our community,” said Todd McPeek, executive director of the agency. Hutchcraft is a long-term support case manager with Shawano County Human Services.
Clintonville hopes to have city administrator in June
The Clintonville Common Council hopes to have a new city administrator in place in June. The council last week reviewed advertisements for the position, a community profile and time table prepared by interim City Administrator Chuck Nell. The deadline for applications is April 2.
Local 4-H team wins dairy quiz bowl
A team of local 4-H club members won its division of the State 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl in Portage on Feb. 7 and will advance to the national competition. Four local teams participated in the contest. Members of the winning senior team were Ben Schmidt, Bonduel, Mason Jauquet, Pulaski, Kaila Wussow, Bonduel, and Jen Krull, Bonduel.
