Hawks’ hoops coach resigns
Chris Kellett has resigned as varsity boys basketball coach at Shawano Community High School. Athletic director Charmaine Schreiber said the district received Kellett’s notice Monday morning. Bertha M. Ernst
Bertha “Bert” M. Ernst, 91, of Shawano, formerly of the town of Union, Waupaca County, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 17, 2015, at the Shawano Medical Center. Bertha was born March 12, 1924 in Appleton. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Ester (Hedtke) Barkholtz, and the eldest of their nine children. She was a second mother to her younger siblings and loved and cherished each and every one of them.

Dog park plans in Clintonville halted
Despite a recommendation from the Clintonville Park and Recreation Commission to approve a dog park in the city and to begin fundraising, the Common Council failed to give its approval last week. The vote was 5-3 in favor, but failed because six votes were needed. Alderman Steve Kettenhoven was disappointed with the vote.
