Dorothy A. Grosskopf

Dorothy A. Grosskopf, 88, of Tigerton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Homme Home of Wittenberg. Dorothy Adeline Bazile was born May 7, 1927, in Hunting to Joseph and Adeline (Ball) Bazile. She was the youngest of 14 children. Dorothy graduated from Marion High School and worked at several jobs prior to her marriage. She was united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1947, to Edward Herman Grosskopf at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marion.

Patricia L. “Patti” Genke, 57, of Shawano, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday evening, Nov. 29, 2015, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah following a sudden illness. Patti was born on Sept. 16, 1958, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Pepin) Pegg. She attended Milwaukee schools, graduating from Milwaukee Pulaski High School. On June 7, 2001, she was united in marriage to Roger Genke.

City police to offer kid safety training program
The Shawano Police Department will soon become the first in Wisconsin to offer a nationally known program geared to safety education and violence prevention for children. radKIDS gives children ages 5-12 the knowledge and skills they need to “resist aggression defensively.” The program trains children to recognize, avoid, resist and escape potential danger, empowering them to stop crimes before they start. Race for Shawano mayor shaping up
Two sitting Common Council members have taken out papers to run for Shawano mayor after incumbent Lorna Marquardt announced she will not seek re-election in April. Meanwhile, one of the aldermen up for re-election in the spring election could be facing a challenger.
