Oconto County hit the market at just the right time, as the County Board on Thursday authorized the issuance of $15 million in promissory notes for the law enforcement center. The county will pay 2.19 percent interest on the 10-year note. “I’m pretty darn happy with those rates,” said the county’s bond adviser, Jeff Belongia, of Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley and Co.

Red Arrow Snowmobile ATV Club of Townsend will hold its 41st annual Fish A Ree from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at the Townsend Town Hall. All funds raised will be used to maintain and improve the snowmobile and ATV trails in the Townsend area. This family fun event will feature music, food, beverages, meat raffles and a fishing contest.

Emma Koenig, 91, of Cecil, formerly of Gillett, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016. She was born May 17, 1924, in Gillett, daughter of the late Herman and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Giese) Yaeger and graduated from Gillett High School in 1942. Emma married Orland S. Koenig on July 22, 1944, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gillett, and together they shared 66 loving years of marriage before Orland passed in 2011.

Carol Peterson, 82, De Pere, formerly of Oconto Falls, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016. Carol was born on Jan. 5, 1934, to Clarence and Dorothy (Driggs) Berghoefer in Milwaukee. She attended West Division High School, where she was an outstanding softball pitcher and junior prom queen. Carol married Gerald “Punky” Peterson on Oct. 19, 1951. The couple settled in Oconto Falls, where they raised their five children.

Stanley “Slim” Jaroszewski, 81, Krakow, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. The son of Stanley and Lucille (Madziar) Jaroszewski was born Feb. 11, 1934, in the town of Chase.
