To the editor: So you say you want single-payer health care to replace the disaster of Obamacare? Well, now if you had relatives who live in a country that has it, you might not feel this way! We have family living in Windsor, Ontario, who won’t go to their government run health care system for anything greater than a Band-Aid boo-boo!

To the editor: Five American hostages were released by Iran. A sixth American is still not accounted for. He was a retired FBI employee and was doing contract work for the CIA in Iran. If the United States discovered an Iranian in our country with the same type of credentials, we would surely hold the person hostage. How Iran treated the American hostages is being discussed.

University of Wisconsin-Extension officials want to absorb Gov. Scott Walker’s budget cuts by reducing the number of agents and researchers helping people with everything from growing crops to family finances. The Extension is a University of Wisconsin System division designed to apply UW research and expertise across the state.

The Shawano Area Community Foundation has approved $29,840 in grants from its Shawano Area Fund to 11 charitable organizations serving people in Shawano County. The Shawano Area Fund is an endowment that accepts donations of any amount to be used to provide annual grants. The foundation’s volunteer grants committee selects grant recipients through a competitive application process each fall.

Consumers using ThedaCare health system facilities can rest easy through 2016 about whether their Network Health Plan coverage is still accepted. The two companies announced Friday that they have agreed to maintain their partnership to avoid any disruption of services for customers through the end of the year.
