Aspirus hosting free seminar on preventing falls and treatment for hip pain

Aspirus Langlade Hospital and Clinic invites the public to a free seminar designed to learn more about falls prevention, common causes of hip pain and treatment options that support a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Johnson donates paychecks to Joseph Project

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has announced that he will be donating his paychecks to The Joseph Project for the duration of the federal government shutdown.

The Joseph Project, a faith-based jobs initiative, provides a week-long job preparation training program that links participants with Wisconsin employers.

Solar farm on track for Town of Morgan

A proposed 100-megawatt solar farm and 50-megawatt battery facility is on schedule to be built in the town of Morgan, and townspeople are worried.

According to documents provided by the state Public Service Commission, the proposed site would consist of 648.9 acres of land near CCC Road and County Road C.

Craft show caps off Gillett homecoming week

A weeklong countdown to homecoming concluded with a craft and vendor show Oct. 4 at Gillett High School.

The craft show, sponsored by the Gillett Area Chamber of Commerce, has been a part of Gillett’s homecoming celebration for four years, taking place on the Saturday following the homecoming varsity football game.

A&W Tractor hosts Appreciation Day

Down a meandering tree-lined road in the Town of Underhill, the glow of orange caught the attention of passersby.

The orange was not the turning leaves, but scores of Allis-Chalmers tractors and equipment lined up in rows.

A&W Tractor hosted its third annual customer appreciation day Oct. 4. The event took place on the shop’s property at 12802 Wiskow Road.

Victim identified in Sept. 20 crash

The traffic report for a fatal Sept. 20 crash in the Town of Gillett was released Oct. 4, including the names of those involved.

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department report indicates that the victim of the crash was Wayne David Couillard, 24, of Gillett, whose was driving an SUV that struck a pickup truck head-on on state Highway 22 near the intersection of County Road P. Couillard was pronounced dead at the scene.
