Milk production up slightly from a year ago
Milk production in Wisconsin during February 2024 totaled 2.56 billion pounds, up 4% from the previous February according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Milk Production report. However, adjusting production for the additional day due to the leap year causes February milk production to be up 1% on a per day basis.
US, Wisconsin egg production up from a year ago
Wisconsin egg production during February 2024 was 182 million eggs, up 9% from the previous February, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The average number of all layers on hand during February 2024 was 7.49 million, up 6% from last year.
Janice R. Blumreich
Janice Rae Blumreich (“B/Ms. B”) passed away on March 22, 2024. She was born March 17, 1934, to Annette and Ervin Blumreich. Jan graduated from Gillett High School in 1952. She attended Illinois State Normal and then taught two years in Farmington, Illinois, teaching physical education and as GAA adviser.
‘12 Angry Jurors’ to deliberate in Oconto
The Machickanee Players have begun rehearsals for the final play of their 40th season, the drama “12 Angry Jurors.” The story contemplates the serious responsibility of 12 ordinary people as they consider the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of the murder of his father.

Donna L. Schuettpelz
Donna Laverne Schuettpelz, 95, a longtime resident of the Coleman and Suring area, and more recently Winneconne, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024, after a short illness at the Eden Meadows skilled nursing facility in Oshkosh. Donna was born to John and Esther (Haessely) Sandberg of Mountain on Sept. 27, 1928, and was the eldest of six children. She grew up and attended Mountain High School and graduated in 1945.
Oconto Falls boys dominate home track and field meet
Shawano, March 23 The Shawano boys captured nine top-10 finishes at the Ripon College Showcase Meet on March 23. Will Chelberg ran to a third-place finish in the 3,200-meter run, while teammate Josiah Kuehl placed eighth. Ethan Onesti captured fourth in the 800-meter run.
