Barbara Alice Nelson

Barbara Alice Nelson, nee Geringer, age 72, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at her home in Shawano. Barbara was born on Sept. 19, 1951, in Milwaukee, the daughter of John and Idabell (Schwenkner) Geringer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen J.

Spring waterfowl survey shows positive results
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that data from the annual spring survey of breeding waterfowl is available. The survey indicated stable population numbers and habitat conditions for migratory birds. The information from this survey is part of the overall survey of breeding waterfowl in North America.

Legion baseball season wraps up for local teams
New London’s AA Legion team qualified for state after going undefeated in its home regional in late July. As for Shawano, the team initially lost 8-3 to Waupaca. Shawano then eliminated Antigo with a 15-4 win and also eliminated Waupaca with an 8-3 win.
