Barbara Alice Nelson, nee Geringer, age 72, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at her home in Shawano.
Barbara was born on Sept. 19, 1951, in Milwaukee, the daughter of John and Idabell (Schwenkner) Geringer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Allen J. Geringer.
Barb was a loving and giving person who dedicated her life to her family by not only raising and supporting her children but also three grandchildren (which she loved every second of). She is also remembered for her decades of work as a social worker/director for Menominee County Health & Human Services.
Barb is remembered lovingly by her partner of 25 years, Jeff Orlowski; her daughter, Kari Nelson Flores (Jay); and son, Mark Nelson. Also by her grandchildren, Myah, Macey and Mason Nelson, Perry Sorenson and Greysen Flores; her niece, Tina; as well as many loving family members, colleagues and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
