The Wisconsin Department of Administration has awarded the city of Oconto Falls $1 million of federal funding through the Community Development Block Grant program toward the reconstruction of Columbia Street in 2025. Area agencies and private citizens collaborated Aug. 11 in rescuing several people — and their dog — after a sailboat capsized on the bay of Green Bay. According to a news release from Deputy Chief Ryan Pecha of Oconto Fire and Rescue, officials were notified around 1:34 p.m. that a sailboat had capsized with three or four adults in the water wearing life jackets, along with one dog.

Ascension Lutheran Church of Navarino is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year. The small congregation will commemorate its 150th anniversary this fall.
