Settlement reached in case against SIST founder
A trial in a Minnesota bankruptcy court scheduled for this week was averted after a settlement was reached between the government and Samanta Roy Institute of Science and Technology Inc.
MISD programs well-received
More than 200 Menominee Indian School District students enrolled in summer learning programs designed to help them prepare for the upcoming school year. “When school is out, we offer opportunities to engage our students in continued learning,” MISD Superintendent Wendell Waukau said.
Excavation begins at medical center site
Heavy construction and excavation equipment this week moved onto the site of the new ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano at County Road B and state Highway 22. According to Matt Peterson, project manager at The Boldt Co. of Appleton, the project’s general contractor and construction management firm, the first tasks are site preparation work. “We started with removal of trees and existing storm water ponds,” he said.
Hawks golfers 8th in Bay match
The Shawano Community High School girls golf team had a down day at a Bay Conference match Wednesday at Grand View Golf Course in Hortonville. The Hawks finished eighth with a score of 232. Denmark scored 189 to win the event. Megan Beck shot a 54 to lead Shawano. Courtney Baumann carded a 56, Julia Beck 57, Emily Smith 65 and Cheyenne Knueppel 73. Denmark’s Meaghan Carney was the medalist with a 38.

On Aug. 14, 2013, Lee Anna Mae Malueg (Scheider) passed away peacefully at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, at the age of 87. Lee Anna had led a wonderful life.

Hawks 5th at River Island
Courtney Baumann shot a 47 and the Shawano Community High School girls golf team placed fifth at a Bay Conference match Thursday at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls. Denmark (194) won the match, followed by Marinette (200), Hortonville (203), Oconto Falls (221) and Shawano (224). Baumann was tied for sixth overall with Marinette’s Cassie Hilbert.
