Attempted homicide case remains unresolved

The case against Amanda Bowman, a Bowler woman who stands accused of arson, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and six counts of felony bail jumping, is still unresolved, despite an offer from the Shawano-Menominee County District Attorney’s Office in January. A new pre-trial hearing was set for 10 a.m.

Frozen roads declaration comes to an end

Diane Lea Wopp
Diane Lea Wopp, age 78, of Clintonville, formerly of Wittenberg, passed away March 1, 2025, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano. She was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Wausau, the daughter of Donald R. “Pete” Hanke and Doris Lorraine (Jensen) Hanke. She was a graduate of Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. She married Dale Blum in 1966. They had two children. Diane and Dale went their separate ways after many years of marriage.
Community center gets $30K Bond Foundation grant
The Bellin Health Bond Community Center received a generous donation to support phase three of its outdoor youth playground, annual kids’ triathlon and continuation of free community day events through a grant from the Leon H. and Clymene M. Teen mental health is a growing concern, with recent data from Mental Health America showing that one in five adolescents aged 12-17 has experienced at least one major depressive episode in the past year. “Teens today face a lot of pressure, not just from school and sports, but also from their own expectations and family influences,” said Jessica Schaefer, a licensed clinical therapist with Aspirus Health.
