Shawano County authorities executed a search warrant at County Supervisor Deb Noffke’s home Tuesday morning, but came away empty-handed, according to documents filed in the Clerk of Court’s office. Shawano County sheriff’s detectives started an investigation after receiving “anonymous information” in February that Noffke and her daughter were growing and smoking marijuana at the Shawano residence and at Noffke’s business, Radio Shack, at 221 E.

Lois Harriet Kroenke, 86, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Maple Lane in the town of Belle Plaine. Born on July 26, 1927, in Lake Elmo, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Richard and Helene (Bussman) Jank. After graduating from high school in Clear Lake, Lois attended Valparaiso University, where she earned her diploma in 1949.

Verna L. Bunkelman, 89, formerly of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. Verna L. Brocker was born Sept. 21, 1924, in the town of Hobart, Brown County, a daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Schumacher) Brocker. On Feb. 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Bunkelman at Oneida. Following their marriage the couple moved to Seymour.

Brice Bergner and Jake Klister won events and the Shawano Community High School boys track and field team took fourth Friday at the Warrior Invitational in Wausau. Wausau West won the meet. Bergner won the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.95. Klister had the top finish in the 800 run with a time of 2:17.59. Bergner and Klister teamed up with Carlos Merino and Kyle Raddant to win the 4x147.5 relay.

Trolling rules, deer management changes and other issues were discussed Monday night at Shawano Community Middle School as the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources held its annual spring fish and wildlife public hearing and the Wisconsin Conservation Congress held its county conservation meeting. Russell E. Barnes, 66, of Keshena, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Aug. 12, 1947, in Keshena, he was the son of the late John and Eleanor “Sissy Bug” (Webster) Barnes. After graduating from Shawano High School, Russell enlisted with the United States Marines and proudly served his country for nearly three years during the Vietnam War.

Betty J. Mattmiller, 82, formerly of Mattoon, died on Monday, April 14, 2014, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on Nov. 6, 1931, in Bowler, the daughter of the late Charles and Amanda (Kortbein) Kielman. Betty graduated in 1950 from Bowler High School. She was united in marriage to Willard Mattmiller on June 15, 1957, in Bowler. He preceded her in death on Oct.

Carl Johnson Maskewit Jr., 47, of Keshena, died unexpectedly April 13, 2014, in Appleton with his family by his side. Born on Oct. 18, 1966, in Sturgeon Bay, he was the son of Carl J. Maskewit Sr. and the late Sharon (Winneshiek) Maskewit. Known as an avid outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially cutting wood with his father.
