Eunice Ida Moericke, 97, formerly of Bonduel, died on Friday, April 25, 2014, in De Pere. Born on Sept. 14, 1916, in Hortonville, she is the daughter of the late Walter and Elvira (Baars) Bleick. When she was very young, Eunice and her family relocated to the Bonduel area, where her father opened Bleick’s Creamery, which produced cheese, ice cream and butter. On Sept. 14, 1938, Eunice was united in marriage to Elmer E.

Brother Simeon (Alphonse Henry) Pytel, CFA, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He was born on Aug. 17, 1921, and raised in Hamtramck, Mich. It was a solidly Polish enclave where the Catholic Church was the center of the community, but the Polish national traditions and spirit were very palpable. As a young adult he worked at Chrysler Corporation and in 1959 he entered the Alexian Brothers.

Thomas Tyrrell, 72, of Clintonville, walked to be with his Lord and Savior and his parents in heaven on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Thomas Clement Tyrrell was born on May 20, 1941, in Clintonville, the very special child of Clement “Irish” and Irene (Rades) Tyrrell. Tom attended school in Appleton. He enjoyed going to the family cottage at Pickerel Lake, watching and participating in the cerebral palsy telethons, and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Zenith Louise “Nen” Lyons, 78, of Shawano, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Nov. 2, 1935, in Keshena, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Rose (Schroeder) Dick. Zenith worked for several years as a home care worker. She was united in marriage to Merle “Sonny Boy” Lyons. Zenith was a member of the River Valley Church in Shawano.

The University of Wisconsin-Extension in Oconto County will offer Adventure Camp for middle and high school students from Sunday, July 20, to Wednesday, July 23, at Upham Woods, near Wisconsin Dells. Open to youth completing grades 7-13, the camp will provide opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, teambuilding and adventure.

With the signing of seven heroin and opiate prevention bills into law recently in Wisconsin, health care professionals hope to bring awareness of local addiction problems to their communities. On April 22, a panel of health care providers and hospital personnel met with state Rep.

Ethel “Teddy” Mikkelson, 88, of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014. She was born to the late Albert and Alma (Johnson) Anderson on June 20, 1925. Ethel taught school in Spruce before marrying Dale Mikkelson on Oct. 27, 1951, at Section Eight Baptist Church in Pound. Teddy was a substitute teacher for three area school districts. The couple farmed in the town of Maple Valley until moving to Brillion in 1964.

Donald J. Holtger, 85, Klondike, died early Sunday morning, April 27, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Monday, May 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls until the time of the service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. A complete obituary will follow.

Dennis Gwidt, 66, of De Pere, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at home, surrounded by family, having lost a courageous battle with brain cancer. The son of the late Adam and Ione (Moesch) Gwidt, Dennis was born Nov. 30, 1947, and was a graduate of Pulaski High School. He grew up on his family dairy farm in Pulaski. On Jan. 19, 2000, he married the former Tracy Larsen in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Dennis served his country in the U.S.
