SCHS inducts 3 into hall of fame

Shawano Community High School added three members to its athletic hall of fame as part of its homecoming festivities Saturday. The inductees were George Bowan, Class of 1938; Tim McGuire, Class of 1961, and Carol (Duquain) Schils, Class of 1973. Ron Bowan accepted the honor on behalf of his father, who is deceased. Packers shine in 42-10 romp over Vikings

VOLLEYBALL Marion 3 Menominee Indian 0 Marion swept Central Wisconsin Conference-10 foe Menominee Indian 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 Thursday in Keshena. Autumn Krueger led Marion (1-8 CWC-10) with 19 points and 26 digs. Lexi Brown had 13 points. Kate Brietrick had eight points, three kills and 15 digs. Courtney Schricker had six points and 14 digs. Shawano wins Bay Conference invite
The Shawano Community High School girls tennis team won the Bay Conference tournament Thursday in Marinette. Shawano had a team score of 10, beating out New London (9), Marinette (6) and Menasha (3). No. 3 singles player Hannah Neumann won both her matches to earn a gold medal. Also getting golds for the Hawks were the No. 1 doubles team of Sara Hokestadt and Meghan Hoffman and the No.

Walk to School Day promotes bonding
Shawano area students will join schools worldwide in celebrating International Walk to School Day on Wednesday. 3 busted for prostitution in county
An undercover operation last month that netted three misdemeanor prostitution busts was part of a broader, ongoing investigation that was not specifically targeting sex crimes, according to Shawano County authorities. Vigil to spotlight domestic violence
A new report sheds light on the life and death consequences of domestic violence in Wisconsin. The organization End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin released a study this week that shows 55 people died as a result of domestic violence in 2013.

Sock hop raises money for nIc Foundation
The Dance Against Violence Sock Hop will celebrate its 10th anniversary Oct. 17. The dance is a fundraiser for the nonprofit nIc Foundation. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Grand Meridian, 2621 N. Oneida St., Appleton. Swing dance lessons will be available at 6:45 p.m. The dance begins at 8 p.m., with 1950s and 1960s music by the Bobby Rivers Band. The cost is $20 per person at the door and includes a buffet, dance lesson and raffle ticket.

Gresham Community School It is Cystic Fibrosis Week. Gresham Community School will be having a walk for Cody Pluger on Friday at 1 p.m. This is also homecoming week at Gresham School.
