Land exchange makes way for expansion

A land-locked manufacturing firm in Oconto is slated to double in size and add 50 employees once a land swap and sale is finalized and an addition built. In an agreement approved Thursday by the Oconto County Board, the county would acquire a 1/2-acre lot across the street from the Materials Recovery Facility, 153 Evergreen St., Oconto, and move recycling operations to the new location. Proposal to raise Spruce tax levy defeated
Residents of Spruce deadlocked on a Town Board request to raise property taxes $30,000 to cover substantial increases in legal and ambulance fees and other expenses in 2015. The hourlong special meeting Oct. 21 ended with a 16-16 vote.

Utility manager resigns
The city of Oconto Falls has dropped an investigation into an undisclosed personnel issue that prompted the Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities Commission to place the utility manager on paid administrative leave. Chuck Grady was placed on paid leave following an emergency meeting of the commission Oct. 3. On Oct. 7, he resigned as utilities manager, a position he held for the past 10 years.

Walker taking state in wrong direction
To the editor: I believe a vote for Walker and the Republican Party is a wasted voted. He and the party do not care about the middle class. It’s dishonest to say you are for education when $1.85 billion was cut from education. Divisively, he stripped all state workers except firemen and police officers of rights and benefits with Act 10. Questions surround Burke’s ability to govern
To the editor: Just who is Mary Burke? Most people know that she is the daughter of John Burke, founder of Trek Bike, but beyond that few things hit the news. Without a serious Democratic primary, there was little news about what she stands for. The press has been mostly absent with reporting about her qualifications and background. Does she really have a concise plan to grow Wisconsin?

Falls streetwork changes morning routine

Veterans invited to Suring program
