For the third straight year, Jodi Haws has added new Halloween decorations to her yard at 1210 S. Prospect St. in Shawano. “I love fall,” Haws said.

Inspired by their Las Vegas experience, James and Tracee Brown, of Shawano, decided to mix Halloween with classic Christmas decorations in their yard at 104 W. Stevens St.

A. H. “Stormy” Storma, 90, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born March 15, 1924, son of the late Albert and Emma (Helms) Storma at Route 2, Seymour. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1944.

Kenneth W. Manthei, 71, of Cecil, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014. Ken was born on Nov. 14, 1942, to the late Edwin and Lora (Boerst) Manthei in Shawano. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church White Clay Lake, Cecil. Ken attended grades 1-8 at Immanuel Lutheran School White Clay Lake, Cecil. He attended Bonduel High School and graduated in 1960. Ken married Judith Fischer on Sept.

On Oct. 25, 2014, Yvonne Kieslich gracefully departed friends and family to join her parents, Vincent Schiltz and Margaret (Henrickson) Schiltz, and her son, Timothy Fairchild. Yvonne was born Aug. 14, 1943, in South Milwaukee. She enjoyed gardening, hatpins, and her dog, Abbey. She is survived by her husband, Robert Kieslich, her children, Scott Fairchild and Keith and Sarah Fairchild, her three grandchildren: Nick, Travis, and Tyler.

For the first time in its 35-year history, this year’s Golden Strings concert will include audience participation. The annual concert presented by the Shawano Community High School music department will include a costume contest at Friday’s performance. The show’s theme is “Halloween FUN.” Audience members who wish to participate in the contest will need to pay $2.

The Shawano/Bonduel high school girls swimming team won the Bay Conference meet Thursday in Sturgeon Bay, scoring 430 points to finish ahead of Seymour (391), and Ali Hanson was named the Bay Conference swimmer of the year. Hanson won the 50-yard freestyle event, with a time of 24.80. She also won the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.85. Clare Martell won two events for Shawano/Bonduel.

Saturday’s WIAA Division 3 state boys cross-country race will be an end of an era for the Bonduel High School cross-country program. It’ll be the last race for senior Sam Falck, a three-time state qualifier.
