The Oconto County Board has authorized an upgrade of the sound system in its meeting room that will make it easier for visitors to follow the conversation and allow for recording of board meetings. Supervisors voted 27-1 to spend up to $50,000 to place microphones in front of all 31 board members, along with related equipment and hardware.

Olson Dairy Farms will host the 2025 Shawano County Brunch on the Farm, the Shawano County Farm Bureau has announced. The brunch will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 22. The Shawano-Menominee Counties Health Department has been certified by the state as a Level II department and was praised by the state Department of Health Services for its efforts. Paula Tran, state health officer and administrator of the Wisconsin DHS, sent a letter to Mike Wizner, chairman of the Shawano County Health and Veterans Service Committee, informing him of the certification.

Shawano County supervisors adopted a resolution March 26 to approve additional uses of residential rental property funds. The original 2013 resolution approved the carryover of the funds for future property acquisition, and ongoing maintenance and repairs at rental properties owned by Shawano County and maintained by the building maintenance department. Carol M. Pytleski, 99, passed away peacefully Friday, March 28, 2025. Carol was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Lena to the late Alton and Mayme (Gehrke) Goodell. On June 12, 1948, Carol married William (Bill) Pytleski. They farmed in the Town of Spruce until retirement in 1979. Carol graduated from Lena High School with the class of 1944.
