Lucille “Lou” Carroll-Skarban, 89, Two Rivers, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Wednesday evening, July 8, 2015, at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, following a short illness. She was born on Dec. 14, 1925, in Two Rivers to Joseph and Whilimenia (Gauthier) Richard. Lou, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, grew up in Two Rivers, where she attended St. Luke’s parochial school.

Joyce Helen Schuettpelz-Timm-Witthuhn, 83, of Suring, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Joyce was born to the late Elmer and Aroline (Gipp) Schuettpelz in Suring on Jan. 7, 1932. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Hayes. Joyce married Godfred “Fritz” August Timm on Sept. 6, 1952, and he passed away on Oct. 17, 1975. She was blessed with seven children, five surviving. Joyce married Harold “Harry” Witthuhn on Nov.

Thirty-four vintage watercraft were displayed June 27 at the Thompson Antique and Classic Boat Rally at Nestegg Marine, 300 Wells St., Marinette, on the banks of the Menominee River. Two Chesapeake Light Craft rowing skiffs, newly built by the local Wishigan Team Rowing Club, also were shown. People from the United States and Canada participated in the rally. Chick Drumm, of Lakewood, Ohio, traveled the farthest with a boat.

The Oconto Area Humane Society & Animal Shelter is one of many organizations helping homeless animals across the state. For more than a year, the OAHS has partnered with other shelters by taking in and finding homes for animals the shelters have difficulty placing. These shelters are generally located many miles away, and Badger Rescue Animal Transport Services Inc.

A youth football tournament and communitywide rummage sales are the two constants returning for the 29th annual Falls Fun Fest on the last weekend of September. Struggling to find the community participation it had hoped for, the Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce has abandoned plans to offer events at Memorial Field for this year’s celebration, Sept.

The 30th barn quilt for the Barn Quilts of Oconto County project was hung June 30 at the Koehne family farm in Little Suamico. The Koehnes treated the barn quilt painters and volunteers to a cookout and hayride as part of the installation celebration. The Koehne family farm was homesteaded by Henry Koehne, who served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1863. Bill Koehne, the current owner, is Henry Koehne’s great-grandson.

July 8 Deputies logged 29 incidents, including the following: Theft - A .30-06 caliber rifle was reported missing from a home on Cardinal Road in Gillett. Parking Problem - Construction workers’ vehicles parked near a curve created a traffic hazard on Maiden Lake Road in Mountain. Theft - A boat was reported stolen from Berry Lane in Little Suamico. Explosives - Authorities investigating a report of three explosions in the area of Hodkiewicz Road

A woman, 26, reported being harassed by her landlord on June 29 on South Franklin Street. A woman, 60, of Oconto Falls, was yelling at customers in the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly, 407 E. Highland Drive, on June 30. Officers located the woman at a nearby business.
