Loggers roll to BABA Grand Championship

After winning all 13 of their Badger Amateur Baseball Association games during the regular season, the Little Falls Loggers kept it going in the postseason.

The Loggers wrapped up the 2025 season Aug. 31 with a 10-3 win over Clintonville in the 79th BABA Grand Championship game.

It’s the second straight Grand Championship for the Loggers, fourth since 2018 and ninth overall.

Champs crowned at Speedway

The 2025 Shawano Speedway champions have been crowned. The five winners were announced Aug. 30 on the final night of racing that coincided with the annual Shawano County Fair.

Winning the title in the modifieds was Lucas Lamberies, while Dustin Wudstruck won in the sport modifieds.

Dan Michonski claimed the stock car title, and Andy Karl won the late models division.

In the Mighty 4s, Taylor Junk claimed the title.

Gillett’s Wendorff leads local runners

The Oconto Falls girls placed fifth at the Freedom Irish Waters Cross Country Invite on Aug. 27.

The Panthers were led by Emma Meissner in 20:52.21.

She was followed by Lily Meissner, Sydney Braund, Alexandria Braund and Ava Holtz.

Pulaski cracks top 10 at Ashwaubenon Classic

Ashwaubenon Jaguar Classic

Pulaski made the top 10 while Shawano and Bonduel ended up in the bottom half of nearly two dozen teams competing at Hilly Haven Golf Course in De Pere.

Bay Port won the event with a 67.

Pulaski scored a 77, with Shawano hitting 79 and Bonduel finishing with a 90.

David Messenger

David John Messenger, AKA Super Dave, 45, of Oconto Falls, died unexpectedly Aug. 27, 2025. He was born Oct. 29, 1979, to John and Colleen Messenger.

David was an avid bowler for many years. He also enjoyed taking care of lawns for others and helping them with yard work and household chores.

He had a loving heart that anyone who knew him saw. He also enjoyed “shooting the breeze” with others.

Harold Zeitler

Harold “Pancho” Peter Zeitler, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 25, 2025, in Crosby, Minnesota, after a strong three-year fight against cancer. His loving wife of 53 years, Connie, was at his side.

Mike Trinko picked to fill county board vacancy

Mike Trinko is the newest member of the Shawano County Board of Supervisors.

Trinko was appointed Aug. 27 to fill the vacancy create by the resignation of Raymond Rigsby, who was appointed last month as the new county clerk.

He will represent District 22 until the April 2026 election. He also serves on the Seneca Town Board.

County Board Chairman Tom Kautza said he had five residents express interest int he job.
