Wittenberg sees highest voter turnout in election
Wittenberg Village Clerk Traci Matsche gave the Wittenberg Village Board the good news Nov. 19 that the village had its highest turnout ever for an election. The bad news is that the village has to go through an election audit. Matsche reported that 461 people voted in the presidential election held Nov. 5.
Higgins to lead PHS girls softball program
Emily Higgins is the new girls softball coach at Pulaski High School. She replaces Billie Vertz, who retired last summer after 20 seasons at the helm and 24 years with the program. Higgins, a Pulaski Community Middle School eighth grade teacher, is no stranger to the softball program. She is a 2018 PHS graduate who competed in softball, basketball and cross country during high school.
Keep an eye out for the finches in Wisconsin
With fall well underway, we are seeing both house finches and purple finches at our feeders. They seem like old friends, some coming from the far north to spend some time with us as the world again slips into winter’s grip. The two species of finches look much alike, and we have to remind ourselves each year of the markings that distinguish them from each other.
