Bahr pleads not guilty to 100 crimes

Tracy Bahr waived his right to have a preliminary hearing April 3, one week after his attorney called for one to take place and asked for his client to be present in the court hearing, and pleaded not guilty to 100 different charges. Defense attorney Christopher Froelich said that Bahr understood his rights and was waiving the preliminary hearing, where it’s usually determined if the state has enough evidence to proceed with a trial. Recreation center project $1M over budget
Plans for renovating and adding to the Shawano Recreation Center have gone up sharply in price, according to an announcement from Matt Hendricks. The parks and recreation director presented his findings at the Shawano Parks and Recreation Commission meeting April 2. Last year, the city of Shawano received a Flexible Facilities Program grant for $4.25 million from the state for the first phase of renovations.

Arthur Buelter
Arthur George “Art” Buelter, 85, of Bowler, died on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at The Pines Post-Acute and Memory Care. Art was born on April 21, 1939, in Shawano County, the son of George and Agnes (Steffen) Buelter. On June 6, 1964, Art was united in marriage to Rita Gangler. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 2021. Art worked as a ranger for the Bowler DNR.

John W. Pingel
John W. Pingel, age 84, of Bowler, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Birch Hill Health Services, Shawano. John William Pingel was born May 28, 1940, in the Town of Morris, son to the late Roy F. and Marie E. (Olson) Pingel. He attended Bowler schools and joined the workforce soon after. He moved to the Milwaukee area and later to Indiana where he worked for the Ford Motor Co.
