Lena School District spaghetti supper drive-thru again

The Lena School District will be doing its annual spaghetti supper as a drive-through event again this year. The event will be on March 10, from 4:30-7 p.m. behind the cafeteria at Lena Elementary School, 304 E. Main St., Lena. The dinner will include spaghetti with meat sauce, breadstick, cheese, coleslaw, and dessert. Meatless sauce or noodles with no sauce can be requested when you drive up.
Community health clinic opens next week
The Shawano Area Matthew 25 Community Health Clinic will open its doors Feb. 24. The clinic will provide free basic healthcare and health education to those in the area without health insurance who are living at or below 250% of the federal poverty level ($43,000 per year for a household of two).
Sunflower Star brightens up barn quilt
Wayne and Judy Depner are the hosts of Shawano County’s 385th barn quilt, which is on display on their barn at N9632 Old Highway 47, Black Creek. The quilt, called Sunflower Star, was given to them by their children as a Christmas gift in 2021. “We are so excited to finally have a barn quilt on our barn,” Judy said. Love of horses inspires new barn quilt
Shawano County’s 384th barn quilt, a unique stained-glass pattern called Just Horsing Around, is now on display on a barn owned by Jay and Trisha Selle at W6873 Robin Road, Wittenberg. The quilt was a Christmas gift to Jay and Trisha from their children, Jay and Amber Selle, Kevin Rash and Jess, and Dustin and Regan Rash. Jay is originally from Tigerton while Trisha is from Texas.
CLUB NOTES: Lena Lions
The Lena Lions Club honored Melanie Cops, daughter of Tricia and Larry Cops, as the student of the month for December. Melanie is a senior at Lena High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the student council and band. Melanie is an active member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams.

Johnstons receive Distinguished Citizen as a couple
