UW-Eau Claire The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced that 2,461 students named to the spring 2022 dean’s list. Thankful for brunch volunteers, sponsors
The 2022 Shawano County Brunch on the Farm was remarkable. It was a true blessing witnessing the community coming together as they enjoyed this event, seeing the cows, touring the farm, eating, laughing, and visiting with each other. This event was made possible because there are so many people and groups who give their time and talents freely.
AROUND THE COMMUNITY: CWEC electricity safety demonstrations return
To help promote Electricity Safety Month in May, linemen from Central Wisconsin Electrical Cooperative (CWEC) conducted electricity safety demonstrations for fourth-grade students in Birnamwood, Bowler, Tigerton and Wittenberg. “Knowing the importance of electricity safety, we were excited to once again be able to bring these safety demonstrations back to the classrooms of area schools,” said Bert Lehman, member relations specialist at CWEC.

Batteries Plus of Green Bay has selected the Menominee Indian School District as one of its Schools of the Year.
AROUND THE COMMUNITY: Kids From Wisconsin coming to Shawano
The Kids from Wisconsin will hit the road July 1 for iconic performances by 36 young performers ages 15-20, hailed as the most talented musicians from across the state. The troupe has been proclaimed as Wisconsin’s premier musical ambassadors for over five decades. The Kids will be coming to Shawano for one night only, performing at 7:30 p.m. July 6 at Shawano Community High School, 220 County Road B, Shawano.
AROUND THE COMMUNITY: Alice in Dairyland seeks host counties
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting bids from counties to host the Alice in Dairyland Finals in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027. Proposals are due by Aug. 15. Each year, a different county hosts a series of Alice in Dairyland Finals events leading up to the selection of the next Alice .
FARM LIFE FROM A FARM WIFE: Golf course beckons with a cry of ‘Fore!’
“Fore!” The one-word warning was heard loud and clear, most recently on the links of the beautiful 18-hole golf course situated along the pond in scenic Marion. While this particular warning was not voiced (this time) by yours truly, I’ve been known to holler it every now and again. Golfing for me was a foreign term, reserved only for those who knew what they were doing, exact opposite of me.
