Two theaters in northeast Wisconsin are holding auditions for summer shows.
Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold auditions for its summer comedy, “Boeing Boeing” to be presented June 6-9 and June 13-16.
Individuals will have two opportunities to audition at 6-8 p.m. April 1 or April 3 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. The auditions will include a reading from the script. Individuals are encouraged to complete the audition paperwork online at www.abramstheater.com prior to arrival.
If an in-person audition isn’t feasible, contact ASPI at 920-826-5852 or theater.aspi@gmail.com regarding an alternate audition time or a video audition. Rehearsals start the week of April 7 and will be held two to three evenings a week.
Similar to Shakespeare’s comedies of merry misadventures and mistaken identities, “Boeing Boeing” tells the exploits of French bachelor Bernard and his lovely female flight attendants. Three flight attendants, to be exact, from three different countries. They all believe they’re engaged to Bernard. When all of the women end up at his apartment on the same day, Bernard (with help from his bewildered friend, Robert) struggles to keep them from learning the truth.
Directed by Wayne Strei, the comedy calls for a cast of six male and female actors, ages 16 and older. No stage experience is necessary to try out.
“Boeing Boeing” is written by Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans and presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Meanwhile, the Box in the Wood Theatre Guild is planning auditions for “The Wizard of Oz.”
The guild will be holding open auditions from 6-9 p.m. April 5 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6 at the Mielke Arts Center, N5649 Airport Road, Shawano.
Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film. The timeless tale, in which young Dorothy Gale travels from Kansas over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz, continues to thrill audiences worldwide.
Actors ages 13 and older are welcome to audition. Auditioners should prepare a song from a musical to perform at the audition that is not from “The Wizard of Oz.” They should bring their own music track to perform with, and a Bluetooth speaker and cables will be available for use. A piano is also available.
Miss Gulch/Wicked Witch and Professor Marvel/The Wizard are non-singing roles, so those interested in auditioning for these roles will do cold readings from the script. Auditioners should register for an audition date and time by going to https://tinyurl.com/oz-auditions
