CMN establishes GIS pilot program with Montana community college

The College of Menominee Nation has established a consortium agreement with Montana’s Fort Peck Community College, enabling students to work toward a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems across both institutions. This agreement enables students to take needed courses that are not presently available at CMN.

Students who complete the general education requirements at the CMN Certificate will be granted enrollment in the program of study course in the Geographic Information Systems program at FPCC. Prospective students must apply to the GIS program at FPCC; admission is based on the information in the completed application.

Upon acceptance into the FPCC GIS program, students will complete an additional 24 credits at FPCC to complete the Certificate in Geographic Information Systems.

CMN students will take four courses through distance education opportunities at FPCC, and these credits will be transferred back to CMN as elective courses.

“CMN is as much about building relationships as it is providing opportunities for our students, locally and abroad,” said Geraldine Sanapaw, CMN’s chief academic officer. “This agreement is another avenue for our student body to find success.”

“I am grateful for the partnership work being done across our Tribal Colleges and Universities, as we enter the next 50 years of the TCU movement,” added CMN President Christopher Caldwell. For information, contact Sanapaw at gsanapaw@menominee.edu.
