Brandenburgs, others headed to BABA Hall of Fame

Dan, Patsy and Lois Brandenburg are among the members of the Badger Amateur Baseball Association Hall of Fame and Museum’s 2026 Hall of Fame class.

The family will be honored during the annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Oct. 17 at Northwinds Banquet Hall in Marion.

Joining the Brandenburgs are Bob Moe, John Boda, Rick Boda, Larry Resch, Jeff Ostrowski, Al Boyd, Harvey Grosskopf, Tim Young and Pat Peskie.

Girls golf underway for Shawano, Pulaski

The 2026 girls area high school golf season kicked off Aug. 13 with the Seymour Thunder Invitational at Crystal Springs Golf Course.

Of the 16 teams competing, Pulaski placed 14th with 458, and Shawano was right behind them at 459.

Scoring for the Red Raiders were Ellie Mork at 100, Kylie Weidbrenner at 116, Taylor Murphy at 119 and Madison Schuh at 123.

Talia Van Hout carded a 131.

Jahnke starts, ends first for feature win at Shawano Speedway

New London’s Tanner Jahnke started and ended first in the IMCA modifieds feature race Aug. 15 at the Shawano Speedway.

He topped Wausau’s Marcus Yarie, who started eighth and finished second, and Shawano’s Jordan Bartz, who started sixth and placed third.

Jahnke also won the first heat, and Shawano’s Trent Nolan won the second heat.

Jack’s Fry Shack wins chamber golf outing

A day of golf, fellowship and community support brought local businesses and residents together Aug. 5, as the Peshtigo and Oconto Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual golf outing at Little River Country Club.

The team from Jack’s Fry Shack captured first place with a score of 33. Team members received gift certificates to the country club.

Clintonville racers on top in 2 speedway races

It was a big night for Clintonville racers Aug. 8 at the Shawano Speedway as two of the divisions saw winners from Shawano’s southern neighbor.

Broncos wrap up top seed for Dairyland playoffs

The Bonduel Broncos will head into the Dairyland League baseball playoffs as the top seed after wrapping up the regular season Aug. 9 with a 16-9 win over Navarino on the Rangers’ home field.

Bonduel will now host a team to be determined in the first round of the league playoffs, which get underway with games at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16. First-round pairings were not available at press time.

BABA playoffs kick off Aug. 16

The postseason is around the corner for 16 Badger Amateur Baseball Association teams in all four divisions.

First-round games are set for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16, and division semifinal match-ups were not available at press time.

First-place teams in the East, West, North and South-Central divisions will host the fourth-place finisher, while the third-place team will travel to face the second-place team.
