Good Samaritans helped driver in need

To the editor:

Thanks to the people who stopped and pushed my car the afternoon of March 19. They literally may have saved lives or property damage as I was stuck halfway across the southbound lane of Waukechon Street and could not move either way.

Lazar better qualified for Supreme Court seat

To the editor:

Both candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court have trial court and appellate court experience. However, Judge Maria Lazar has superior qualifications for the job.

Judge Lazar spent more years on the trial court bench, handling a variety of cases. Ms. Taylor served in Dane County, where courts are restricted to a particular area of law.

Tariff rationale is misleading
To the editor: The primary rationale for imposing substantial tariffs on goods from other countries is America’s grievance for allegedly being taken advantage of essentially by the rest of the world. This tariff policy is a false pretense for a tax increase on American consumers without calling it a tax increase. We pay for the price increases on tariffed goods. Take tariffs on our Canadian neighbors for example.
Schools robbing children of their innocence
To the editor: What are our children being taught, and who approves it? As a father who has homeschooled for 19 years and participated in public schools for the past seven, I’m more concerned than ever. The illusion is that public education is official, approved and therefore trustworthy. My experience says otherwise. On April 14, a concerned grandfather contacted me.
Protect voting rights by opposing ‘safeguard’ act
To the editor: Millions of Americans could be forced to jump through new hoops just to cast a ballot next year if the U.S. Senate passes the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The House of Representatives has already passed this act. Wisconsin voters must presently show a legal ID to vote, but this bill would additionally require proof of citizenship. This is a dangerous step toward voter suppression.
Urge support of Medicaid, a lifeline to affordable, accessible health care
To the editor, As a family physician, I am deeply concerned about potential changes to Medicaid funding and coverage. Medicaid is a lifeline to affordable, accessible health care for millions of low-income individuals and families, including many of my patients. I work at the Menominee Tribal Clinic, an IHS supported but independently-run Native-owned clinic by the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin.
