To the editor:
Both candidates for the Wisconsin Supreme Court have trial court and appellate court experience. However, Judge Maria Lazar has superior qualifications for the job.
Judge Lazar spent more years on the trial court bench, handling a variety of cases. Ms. Taylor served in Dane County, where courts are restricted to a particular area of law.
Ms. Taylor’s first TV ad led off by discussing elimination of food assistance and Badger Care.
Those funding options are legislative powers. One has to wonder whether she recognizes that when she left the legislature, she relinquished making law, instead of judicially interpreting it.
She further brought up protection of abortion, stemming from her policy director role when she was a Planned Parenthood director.
Judge Lazar’s history is consistent with the belief that the judiciary branch interprets the law, without inventing it.
U.S. citizens can vote starting March 24. Your town, city or village clerk can help you with early voting. Another option is to vote at the polls on April 7. Please vote for Judge Lazar.
