Local students take part in choir, band fest

Performing in a school concert with friends is easy, but some “all-star” students expanded their comfort zone a notch Saturday. Noreen Peters Johnson
Noreen “Skinny Mama” Peters Johnson, 49, of Menominee County, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at her home. Born and raised in the South Branch area, Noreen was the daughter of Patricia (Shiviner) Peters and the late Orvis “Flea” Peters. Noreen was a kind-hearted person who never turned away from someone in need. She enjoyed cooking and was well-known for her fry-bread and her homemade pizzas.

Thomas F. Wagner
Thomas F. Wagner, 71, of the town of Wescott, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 29, 1942, in Hartford, he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Kreilkamp) Wagner. Thomas lived in the Shawano area since 1972. He owned and operated Thomas Wagner Roofing and Remodeling. On Aug. 14, 2000, he was united in marriage to Rhonda (nee Knuth) Bunke in the town of Wescott.

Orland R. Behnke
Orland “Bud” R. Behnke, 93, of Clintonville, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2014, at the New London Family Medical Center. Bud was born in the town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, on July 29, 1920, as the son of the late Otto and Ella (Peters) Behnke. He grew up in Bear Creek helping his family on the farm. As a young man he worked in the shipyards in Manitowoc and was united in marriage to Frances Pinder in 1942.

Dale F. Meyer
Dale F. Meyer, 66, of the town of Pella, Shawano County, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2014, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee surrounded by his family. Dale was born on Aug. 8, 1947, in Marinette as the son of the late Edgar and Edna (Alsborg) Meyer. He met Barbara Bittner while in college and the couple was later united in marriage on June 24, 1970, in Milwaukee.

Diane I. Arneson
Diane I. Arneson, 71, of Shawano, formerly of Clintonville, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at her residence. Diane was born on October 31, 1942, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Orville and Lula (Straus) Teetzen. She graduated from Shawano High School and later lived and worked in Neenah. On Feb. 14, 1978, Diane was united in marriage to Harold “Hattie” Arneson in Lake Tahoe, Nev.

Forrest E. Wells
Forrest E. Wells, 93, of Janesville, a former resident of Indianapolis and Shawano, died Jan. 12, 2014. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Cargill United Methodist Church, Janesville, with visitation for one hour prior to the services. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Herbert U. Kubsh
Herbert U. Kubsh, 82, formerly of Manitowoc, and a resident of Manor Care Nursing Home in Shawano, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Manor Care. Herbert was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Jim “Wencel” and Eleanor (Schusta) Kubsh. Herbert grew up in the Kellnersville area and attended local schools. On Jan. 3, 1951, Herb was married to the former Mary Spaeth at Manitowoc. Mary preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 1997.
