GOP attorney general candidate visits Shawano

Cecil post office to reduce hours
Cecil residents opted to maintain their post office with reduced hours after a community survey was tallied at Village Hall on Thursday. Of the 397 U.S. Postal Service surveys that were returned, 83 percent were in favor of realigning hours. “Based on that 83 percent, that is what (Cecil) is going to do,” Postal Service spokesman Sean Hargadon said.

Board OKs Green Bay Street TIF district
Property owners along East Green Bay Street will soon be eligible to apply for low-interest loans and other incentives aimed at encouraging development along that corridor of the city. Mobile Vet Center stops in Shawano
The Mobile Vet Center of Green Bay rolled into the Shawano Walmart parking lot Tuesday as part of a nationwide initiative to reach veterans in every county and territory of the U.S. Counselor Jim Harsh said the Mobile Center has already visited half of Wisconsin’s 72 counties since the yearlong campaign began in March. “The primary way we have been successful is through word-of-mouth,” Harsh said.

Annual fair features wide range of arts
The 46th annual Shawano County Art Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mielke Park in Shawano. Sponsored by the Shawano County Arts Council, it is one of the longest running annual outdoor art and craft shows in the area.

Elliott T. West, 31, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 18, 2014. He was born on Dec. 25, 1982, in Appleton, to Michael and Gloria (Gwost) West. Elliott graduated from Appleton North High School in 2001, and went on to attend and graduate from Humboldt University in 2006. As a child, Elliott was full of joy and energy. Bieber floats justice center at SMC site
Shawano County sheriff’s candidate Adam Bieber is floating the idea of a multi-agency mega-complex that would be housed at the Shawano Medical Center property after the hospital moves to its new location.
