The 46th annual Shawano County Art Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mielke Park in Shawano.
Sponsored by the Shawano County Arts Council, it is one of the longest running annual outdoor art and craft shows in the area. All proceeds will be used to support events held at the Mielke Arts Center throughout the year.
Artists will be exhibiting a wide range of art forms, including drawing, painting, pottery, jewelry, sculptures, wood carvings, weaving, quilting, wood working and more.
The show each year attracts new artists as well as its regulars. This year’s fair will feature local artists as well as others from Rhinelander, Oconto, Oconto Falls, Madison, Appleton, Milwaukee, Dodgeville, Algoma, Forestville, Escanaba, Iron River, Wautoma, Suring and many more communities.
The local contingent will include Steve Champine, an artist who recently had his first water colors show in the Mielke gallery; Alex Majeski, a potter from Krakow whose pieces are sold in only a few select shops; Bill Maersch, who does metal sculptures; and Wayne Damp, known for his wood carvings.
All the fine arts and crafts will be judged and awarded monetary as well as ribbon prizes.
Food and refreshments will be available on the grounds. A new addition to the menu will be cheese cake, in several flavors.
