Missoula Children’s Theatre and more than 50 local students will present an original musical adaptation of “Rapunzel” on Saturday, Aug.

Hunter Magnin and Bo Shroyer will represent the Oconto Falls American Legion baseball team Saturday at the Fox River Valley All-Star game at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton. Magnin and Shroyer were selected by a FRV committee to the American Conference squad, slated to play at noon.

When the first high school football practice of the season got into swing full Tuesday at Oconto Falls, the normal sounds couldn’t be heard; no popping of pads or helmets colliding. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Board of Control passed a measure in late June to limit player-on-player contact starting this season.

When two track athletes grow up together, it should be no surprise they are evenly matched on the track. Oconto Falls High School cross-country runners Bailey Wolf and Mike Friedman are no exception. Wolf placed second Friedman third in their respective age groups July 12 at the Dances with Dirt Extreme Half Marathon in Baraboo. Wolf was 16th of 269 women overall and just 57 seconds off leader Sara Viner of Mount Horeb in the 15-19 age group.

Shawano 6, Navarino 1 Lucas Postl and Ryan Coffey had three hits apiece for the Lobos in the regular season finale. Bryce Szymanski added two hits for the Lobos (22-7).

EASTERN DIVISION Gresham 6, Shawano 0 Adam Carroll threw a two-hitter and struck out 13 to earn the win. Ben Scheidermayer took the loss. Pete Carroll was 3 for 6 to lead Gresham at the plate. Joe Ejnik was 3 for 5. Chase Quinney was 2 for 3.

Travis VanStraten stayed hot Saturday, winning his sixth, and second straight, IMCA Stock Car feature of the year at the 10th annual Bud Lynn Memorial Night at the Shawano Speedway. Third-generation racer Brock Saunders led all but one lap and won his first ever IMCA Sport Mod feature. Tim Rothe led throughout the Late Model feature for his second win of the season. Marcus Yarie won his third IMCA Modified feature of the season.
