Eugene “Gene” Brandt, 86, of Tigerton, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. Eugene Ernest Brandt was born in the town of Polar, Langlade County, to Herman and Beatrice (Ensle) Brandt. Gene was united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1949, to Anita R. Bonell at St. John’s Catholic Church, Antigo. The couple moved to Tigerton in 1963 and started farming in the town of Fairbanks, Shawano County.

The Bonduel School District will begin classes for the 2014-15 school year Sept. 2 for high school freshmen and students in grades 4K through sixth. The city street lights that the city of Clintonville removed in an effort to save money could be going back up. The city’s street committee voted unanimously Aug. 5 to begin the process of determining the costs of replacing the lights with LED lights and discussing possible rate changes with the Public Service Commission. “There is a strong urgency for constituents for getting the lights back up,” Alderman Greg Rose said.
